I am planning to go on a Hawaii cruise on the Norwegian Cruise line ship (Pride of America) which is registered in the US. My H1-B visa has expired but my I-94 is valid. The Cruise ship only visits islands in Hawaii and embarks/disembarks in Hawaii.
Do I need to worry about my visa stamping or just the Passport with valid I-94 and drivers license should suffice?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Call me stupid but I thought Hawaii is part of US only.

Just like the the department of Homeland Security has USCIS to make sure that only very few highly-skilled immigrants get visas (thus causing the USRBD), they should also have the "Agency for USRBD" to counter the damage caused by USCIS. Don't let the RBD suck you in like it threatens to suck Ranga in! Let's go make our voices heard in DC!!

How did you guys find out your Name Check Status. Do we have to call USCIS to check for this or is there any other way to confirm this.

This is actually a very important matter for you; my best advise would be to contact a good attorney and get the advise. You do not want to put your GC in jeopardy based on opinion from other people who may have incomplete information.

For EAD ,the documentation is pretty simple and straightforward.
Please goto USCIS site and take a look at I765 form and the associated instructions. Once you spend 15 minutes on that, you will have most questions answered yourself. For the ones you have doubts, please post back.

You should try this option, in one of the immigration lawyer's forum they mentioned about this. If you have this you can get 3 yrs extension, that saves lot of moeny and time. It's worth exploring this option. Please share with us, if you are able to succed with this option.

i don't think anyone would be able to use first EAD filed during July/Aug time frame as I-140 itself will take more than 1 yr.. or longer who knows...money wasted on EAD.

Report indicates that Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.), Rep. Nydia Velasquez (D-N.Y.) and Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.) will meet with President Barack Obama this afternoon to talk about the chances of getting comprehensive immigration reform or the DREAM Act passed in the lame duck session, signaling the Democrats, Hispanics, and Obama turning their posture in CIR or DREAM from "defensive" to "offensive" strategy, by going forward with the all-court pressing DREAM or CIR during the Lame Duck session. For this apparent strategy, time is indeed short and running out. There was also report that the House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) could bring the DREAM Act to the floor as early as this week. This strategy will push and corner Republicans to the "defensive" position in connection with the 2012 Presidential and another national election. For this matter, the Democrats have nothing to lose by pushing for DREAM or CIR during this Lame Duck session while they are in a majority position. Failure to pass the DREAM Act during the Lame Duck session will be placed on the Republicans, which are likely to bring about some Republican casualties and political liabilities in 2012 election. From the perspecitives of the DREAM activists, this is indeed considered a last chance and they are taking an aggressive position to take advantage of such political strategy of the Democrats. I had applied under EB-2 category and my priority date is: 3/3/2006.
My I-485 was filed on 8/2/2007.
My I-485 was approved and I received my Green Card on Aug 15th 2008. Surprisingly and rather unfortunately, there was no action on my wife's I-485. My wife�s case was submitted with my own case on 8/2/07. The TSC at that time reported that �normal� processing time is 7/16/2007. So basically I got mine out of turn or by chance. The TSC protocol permits attorneys to inquire regarding the status of an I-485 beyond normal processing time if the receipt date is more than 30 days beyond the published processing date. So we could not inquire about my wife's application and soon the priority date changed back.
She has an EAD approved until Oct 2010. She is currently employed. I am also employed with my first company and have been with them for 5 yrs now.
My questions are:
1. What happens to my wife's I-485 application, should I choose to leave my job and go back to school ?
2. Will her EAD still be valid if I leave my job ?
2. I am planning to go full-time starting Fall 2010. Will we be able to renew her EAD independent of my work status ?

this company is def not under fraud investigations .. this company has operations in asiapac/ europe/Canada .. and is among the top level companies like info and hcl ..
believe me those ICE officers would grind u down in a minute .. put yourself in the victims shoes .. and i am sure they(CBP) said ok you dont want to sign this document .. lets take you guys to the holding cell and u can wait for your turn ( whenever that comes) in front of the judge .. that can take 90 days .. nobody wants to go that route

I have a NY lisence and it says on top "Temp visitor, expires 05/29/2010" which is the date on my i 94. So around that time I have to go get that extended to whatever temporary date my status gets extended. What a pain.

I am thinking of starting my own company doing work similar to what I am employed for? Can I quit my job and start my own firm on EAD. I will be the sole proprietor and employee and the business would essentially operate as a startup for the foreseeable future. Will this be ok during I-485 adjudication? or do i need a regular job?
