My friend (Project Manager) wrote the letter in LetterHead as well as got it notarized/attested. The notarization is only for making sure who ever is the "undersignee" is the actual person. No one else is doing the signature for him.
Better to be safe. My Project Manager friend shouted at me when i asked him to do the notarization on top of the letter head - but i told him "please please....." and he did that :)

in my case, the local municipal corp in india denied providing non-avaibility certificate. Because my birth is registered and I do have birth cerficate, but instead of wrong date as in your case, in my case the first name is wrong. I had my birth-name on the birth certificate which is not un-common in india. Before I started pre-school, all my cerficates from that point onwards have my current legal name.
I did not specified YES in the column where it asks if you were known by anyother name in 485.
The only glitch is a first-name in birth cert is diff. from my current legal name. the name of parents, date, timing, family name, birth place and everything else is true and correctly mentioned.

As far as I know We need only Employment offer letter. And the Designation should match your PERM Labor Certificate.

Yes, employment offer letter should have PERM title for sure. Same thing i mentioned in earlier post as well.
but for Employment verification letter, may be not all attorneys asks for it. But most of them ask. And it should have your current H1B/L1 title, if they are asking for this letter.

I am sorry to say this, why do you always try to create controversy. If you don't want to answer you should have kept quiet. No hard feelings my friend. I know that there is not a definite answer for my question, but I have posted here just to take expertise from our friends from their previous experiences. Lets say if you are going for a visa, don't you do your homework instead of leaving everything to the mercy of the officer?

Correct. PR does not have an expiration date. Even though GC itself has a validity period, failure to renew it does not have effect on your PR.

We had the same thing (Case transferred to NBC) and we now have an interview notice in April. We do not know what it is about, until we go for the interview. I have another thread I created recently called "485 Interview" that you can visit in this forum.

According to my understanding, PIO is like a long term entry visa but it does not allow you to work. You would still need an employment visa.
Only OCI visa holders can work without employment visa.
You may want confirm the details on the Embassy website as they keep changing rules from time to time.
No visa needed for employment. The difference being, you need to report if you stay more than 180 days. The OCIs don't need to report.

Ok.. I spoke to the USCIS customer service. They want me to refile I -131 either e-file or paper based and send the original (wrong picture AP) along with it and also all the supporting documents (passport copies, etc)

Yes, there are companies and individuals who are misusing the H1b system, but this is the case with any law, regulation not just immigration. You will never have a perfect system. An example of this is democracy, we are well aware that democracy with its virtues, comes with a price of chaos and corruption. This does not mean we opt for a totalitarian system.
The H1b represents the American Dream for Indians and a lot of other folks from across the world. Plumbers, carpenters, coal workers, homeless people, and literally bums were allowed to immigrate thorough Ellis Island without even needing a visa. Now to come and say that you need to be a genius to get an H1b visa, and IITs are not the best institutions is just preposterous. This report basically states that mojority of H1bs are incompetent folks who come from weak US universities. The Amercican Dream is a universal concept that should be protected at any cost. Protectionist legislation with stymie growth.
The report focuses on H1bs stealing American Jobs, is there any data on the kind of people being displaced, their qualifications?
Put aside the h1b for a minute, what about the agricultural workers who come here, do you need to be the best cherry picker in all of Mexico to work in the US?
Now, this report was published in 2003, it has been buried for good reason.
How do you define "Genius", is Albert Einstein a genius? Is this a measurable concept? Do geniuses create jobs? History tells us that geniuses made a lot of news and history but very little else. The world runs not because of geniuses, but because of a few smart people and millions of average folks.
Do we need to tackle mom&pop h1b sweatshops? yes, but not by changing the fundamental nature of "h1b".

My Wife and I were scheduled to have our fingerprints taken on July 7th and July 9th respectively. Today, we received a letter for my wife and the letter says "Appointment Canceled" "No need to appear at ASC".
The letter does not say if they are going to reschedule OR the reason for cancelling.
I am a July 2007 applicant and this is the first FP appts we have got.
Does anybody have this kind of experience before?
Do you think I should show up at the ASC on the previously scheduled date OR just wait for a new letter and date.
My case is in TSC.
Any comment is appreciated.

last i heard, ins was planning to introduce a rule saying - if i140 is not filed within 45 days of labor approval, it was going to be voided. Many people opposed this idea..but at the same time, it had its benefits because, people file labor and then sell it many years later. this rule was meant to prevent these kind of shady substitutions.

Please search the forums. This has been discussed multiple times (and frowned upon by some multiple times :)). The gist of it is: it is not your qualifications, but the Job requirements that determine if it is EB2 or EB3. Also, you cannot count the experience you have gained with your employer when filing for GC with the same employer. Moreover, since the July 07 fiasco, EB2 filings for tech jobs are been closely looked at by USCIS and can be subject to a Business Necessity RFE, unless the position is on the Managerial side of things. The best advice I can give you is: Consult with your lawyer since each case is unique and there could be justification for a port in certain cases.
